I often find myself so busy with other things, that I feel I may be missing all the fun stages of life that my children are going through. So, I promised myself I would make this summer a fun and adventurous one while everyone's at home. Here are just a few pictures of some of the happenings from this summer so far (there's still two more weeks of fun filled activities planned)!
Grandpa Leishman came home from China and brought home silk pajamas for the kids. I LOVE them, and want a set for myself!
Of course, what would life with a toddler be without the
occasional mischief. On this particular day, Bree found my magic marker and thought it would be a great idea to color her FACE!
You can see how excited she is about her new look! ( She says "yay!")
We got a new water toy this year, super cheap! Slip and Slide! This kept them entertained for hours and Bree loved getting knocked over like a bowling pin more than once!
What would summer be without farmer's markets! We've been to a few and this one in Chico has a great splash pad. Of course, we didn't come prepared with swimsuits, but that's how our spontaneous family rolls! They were dripping!
I'm slightly ashamed to admit that trips to get ice-cream were more often for selfish purposes than anything else, but everyone got ice-cream in the end, so the guilty feeling never stuck around long enough to prevent yet another visit in the future!
Lady bugs are such interesting creatures! Bree would giggle so much watching it crawl up her arm and then throw it on the ground, forcing Cole and Gracie to frantically re-locate it so they could continue passing it around. This must have cycled around for at least 30 min. or so!
And of course we had
lots of pool time, swim lessons, a new playground in the backyard, boating adventures, climbing up waterfalls, sea world
San Diego, a visit to the beach (first time for my kids!), library reading program and reading/play time and the
library, trips/picnics at the park, numerous art projects, art classes for
Rylee, and play dates with friends!
This summer has gone by so quickly and we're sad to see it come to an end, but we still have a mini-family vacation this weekend (before Justin starts the harvest and we don't see him for six-eight weeks) and the county fair to look forward to. I think we can say our plan to have a fantastic and memorable summer was a success! Now to make it a great school year!!! (*sigh*)
